This past October while in Japan I attended the 41st Annual Tokyo Motor Show. My friend Keizo was able to arrange press passes from Rays Engineering, and we were able to go to the show the day before it opened to the public.
The show was great, but from what everyone kept saying, it was much smaller than the previous years. There were absolutely no US manufacturers on display, and only a couple of European manufacturers. The show was almost completely Japanese manufacturers, and most of them didn’t have very many new or upgraded models to display.
The main theme of the show seemed to be on alternative fuel and zero emission vehicles. Almost all of the Japanese manufacturers had some sort of zero emission vehicle as their main display. The car that everyone was waiting to see was finally unveiled, and the Lexus LF-A was definitely the car of the show.
Overall, it was a great show and getting the press pass was great since this show gets packed during normal hours. Hopefully when the economy picks up all the manufacturers will show up again, because I’d like attend this show when it’s in full swing.
Thanks again to Keizo, and to Rays Engineering for the passes!
